The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for a wide range of services for the City. The Department is made up of the following divisions:
Departmental services include recreation programs, city-wide special events (Christmas Parade, Easter Egg Hunt and Summer Concerts), park and beach maintenance, recreational trails, streetscape maintenance, animal control services including dead animal pickup, and administration of the operations contract for the Encinitas Ranch Golf Course.

A wide variety of recreational programs, activities and events from basketball and tai chi to tiny tots and arts & crafts are run through the Encinitas Community and Senior Center.
