The City of Encinitas Youth Commission was established by, and reports to, the City Council. The Commission is comprised of eleven youths and teens of the community. Each member is appointed by the City Council, and serves a one-year term. The Commission generally meets once each month.
The duties of the Youth Commission are to:
- Develop an annual work plan, and present the plan to the City Council;
- Review and update, from time to time, as necessary, the Youth/Teen Master Plan
- Advise City Council on matters regarding youth and teen services, programs, and cooperation with other public and private agencies
- Implement City Council directives.

The Youth Commission meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Encinitas Civic Center. The Civic Center is located at 505 South Vulcan Avenue, at the southeast corner of Vulcan Avenue and “D” Street, directly across from the Coaster Station.
