Fire Station #3 is operational and in use.
Decisions Made on the Project
· July 2009 – Council accepted Fire Station #3 construction project and authorized the filing of a Notice of Completion noting that the project was completed on May 26, 2009
· May 2008 – Council approves an amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Douglas E. Barnhart in a not to exceed amount of $130,000 for full-time Administrative and Construction Management Services for the duration of the Fire Station #3 Reconstruction Project
· October 2007 - Awarded contract to HAR Construction, Inc. in the amount of $3,400,000 for the construction of Fire Station #3 with an additional $23,125 in the event that an alternative material is needed for concrete moisture control
· October 2007 - Awarded contract to MGTL in the amount of $34,454 for Special Inspection and Testing Services
· March 2007 - Council awards Professional Services Agreement to Douglas E. Barnhart in the amount of $194,550 for Fire Station #3 Construction Management
· June 2006 - Funding for the rehabilitation of the 3 fire stations approved
· January 2006 - Planning Commission approves Fire Station #3 by a vote of 5-0
· November 2005 - Citizen Participation meeting held at Fire Station #3
· March 2005 - Council approves award of contract for architectural services to Dominy + Associates Architects
· September 2003 - Council directs staff to implement rehabilitation program for Fire Stations #1, #2, #3
· January 2002 - Council identifies rehabilitation of Fire Station #1, #2 and #3 as a goal for FY02/03

Location and Project Description
Fire station #3 is located at 801 Orpheus Ave on a 1.57 acre lot. The project will include demolition of an existing 2,650 square-foot, single story fire station built in the 1970's and construction of a new 7,256 square-foot, two story fire station and accessory site hardscape and landscape. The new fire station will be built to house three firefighters and one duty chief.
Project Budget
After the amendment to the contract for Administrative and Construction Management Services was granted in May, 2008, the new total estimated cost for the Fire Station #3 Construction Project is $4,634,500.
Total cost apportioned for the replacement of fire stations #1, #2, and #3 is $13,500,000.
