Mortgage Credit Certificates
Mortgage Credit Certificates provide first-time homebuyers tax credits equal to 20% of the interest paid on the home. This program is available for low and moderate income households. The potential homebuyer is required to select a lender from a list of participating lenders. Homebuyer education classes can provide valuable information to achieve your goals for homeownership, home retention and financial education. RENTAL HOUSING
Rental Assistance
The City of Encinitas offers a rental assistance program to very low-income households in Encinitas. Unfortunately, there is a waiting list, so the rental assistance program can not provide immediate or emergency assistance. Click here to view the Rental Assistance Application in PDF format. If you do not live or work in Encinitas, we can refer you to another Housing Agency that will be able to give you a residency preference. For further information, please call (760) 633-2723.
Utility Assistance
To speak to an SDG&E Customer Service Representative about rate or energy assistance programs, call SDG&E at (800) 411-SDGE (7343), 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Rent Restricted Units
The City has assisted in the development of units that have rent restrictions for moderate and low income renters. The units are not guaranteed to be affordable for everyone, but are less than the market rate units within the same complex. The units have different rent levels and income limits. These units are owned and managed by private entities. For information about current rent levels, income limits and availability please call the particular property managers.
