The Current Planning division is responsible for reviewing land development proposals, ensuring compliance with the City's zoning regulations, Local Coastal Program, State Subdivision Map Act, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and other applicable local and state regulations.  

The division provides staff support to the Planning Commission, and recommends and implements changes to the land use section of the Municipal Code.

Current Planning staff also assists the public with land use and zoning-related inquiries.  Staff is available at the Civic Center's Development Services counter, Monday through Thursday (every other Friday closed), 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or by telephone at (760) 633-2710.
